You are what you think

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to have all the luck in the world, while bad luck seems to follow other people everywhere?

Your life is determined by what you think. Studies show that we have approximately 50.000 thoughts a day. Most of these thoughts are repeated over and over again. The way we think and talk to ourselves directly affects our conscious and subconscious.

Every time you think, you make a statement to your subconscious, whether you are aware of it or not. You are basically saying this is what I want in my life. If you feed your subconscious constantly with a statement it will trigger an action. You can compare this process with a flower. You plant a seed, you nurture it and it will grow into a flower. In other words; you have a thought and when you repeatedly think about it, it will turn into reality.

The universe always provides you with your every need. If you feed your subconscious with negative thoughts, then you will attract negativity into your life. Imagine what a damaging impact this can have on your life. But if you have a positive outlook on life and feed your subconscious with positive thoughts and beliefs, you will attract positive things into your life.

Our present thoughts are based on beliefs built from the feedback we receive from our parents, friends, society and our selves. We maintain these thoughts and beliefs by our self talk, the inner conversations we have with our selves, consciously and subconsciously.

The first step of taking your life into the direction you want is to change your self talk, the inner conversations with yourself. Change your negative thoughts and beliefs into positive ones. You can do this by making positive statements, also called affirmations.

In order to get what you want out of life you need to instruct you subconscious. You need to state what you want in a positive way. If you make an affirmation about what you do not want, you focus your mind on the negative side and increase the negative feeling. It is as if the word don’t does not exist in your subconscious. So focus on what you do want.

Make your affirmation in the present tense. Start them with “I am…” or “I have…” This way you tell your subconscious that it is happening right now. “I am ….. now” is superior to and will work better than “I am becoming…” or “I will…” Affirm that what you want is already accomplished.

Make an affirmation in your style of language. You can find many good affirmations in articles, books or internet, but if it does not sound like you, your subconscious will find it difficult to accept it. Change an affirmation into your own words, into the way you think and speak.

Your affirmation can be about how you feel: “I feel wonderful; I feel energetic; I feel safe”. It can include how you want your life to be; “I am a prosperous person; I solve problems easily; I am a creative person; I attract positive people into my life”.

Changing your life will not happen overnight. Be persistent and when you fall back into a negative thought, stop it and change it into a positive one. When you repeat an affirmation, put feeling into it and think about what you are trying to accomplish.

And remember, it is your birthright to get all that you desire.
