7 Steps to help you reach your goal

We all want to be successful in life and fulfil our dreams, but the key to success is doing something about it. Success does not always come knocking at our door; we need to invite it in. We need to get off the couch and get into action.

In life you have two types of people; people who make things happen and people who wait for things to happen. If you are someone who waits for things to happen, you might have to wait a long time before your dreams to come true. So why not do something about it?

If you want do be successful and work towards fulfilling your dreams you need to make a plan of action. Below you will find 7 steps that will help you reach your goal.

  • Set yourself a goal. Take the time to make a list of what you want to accomplish. Make a to-do list of tasks and prioritize. The most important goals or tasks go on to top.
  • Visualize your goal. Believe with your whole heart that you will accomplish your goal. Think about it and picture how it feels to accomplish it. You can make yourself a dream board or book. Find pictures that have to do with your goal and glue it to a board or book where you can see it every day. This will keep you focussed.
  • Break your goal up into little steps. Reaching your goal can look like a major task, so break it up into little steps that will lead to your main goal. When a big task is divided into little steps it does not look like a mountain of work anymore. Just take it one step at a time.
  • Set a date – create deadlines. Set yourself a date for when you want to complete a task. Work towards that date. This way you do not end up doing everything last moment, but you have a plan that will spread your tasks out evenly.
  • Make a start. The beginning is always the hardest thing and we like to put it off. But simply make a start as soon as possible, no matter how small it is.
  • Reward your self. Force yourself to do a task by rewarding yourself when it is done. This can be a motivation to get you going. If you do not complete your task, you do not get that reward. A reward can be as simple as watching your favourite show on TV or going out for a drink.
  • Do the things you do not like first. If there is something you do not like to do, do them first. This way you get them out of the way and you do not have to dread them till the end.
